We can be really hard on ourselves. When we set high expectations for ourselves and we don’t meet those expectations, we can become very critical of ourselves. This can create self-hate or self-shame. This is not a productive behavior that we should engage in. It will not lead to or create wellness. What would it look like if we shifted our focus? Instead of dwelling in our shortcomings, what if we focus on what’s going great in our lives? A shift in perspective can be life-changing. It can create and encourage great success and happiness.

There have been so many tasks that I’ve wanted to complete in the last month, both personally and professionally. I wanted to stick to my workout routine through the move and I haven’t been able to find a new gym yet. Therefore, my workouts have fallen short. I wanted to stick to home-cooked meals through the move and my kitchen isn’t yet fully upacked. I have many things that I have on my to-do list for my business and I don’t have my office set-up yet. I’ve set a lot of expectations through the move and I’ve fallen short of a lot of them….

Moving is stressful and consuming… time, energy, and mentally consuming. I don’t want to make excuses for reasons I haven’t completed all my “to-do’s” yet but I know these tasks will always be here. Today I want to focus on what’s going great so I can mentally make room for more prosperity and further completion of my checklist and goals.

So, what’s good?? My husband, Kyle, and I sold our house! We successfully sold our house (for sale by owner and got more than we asked for!). Woohoo! It seemed impossible until it was done. We’ve moved into a beautiful home on a small lake (our dream!). Each morning I get to look out the window to the peaceful lake. We have been kayaking, walking, or biking every chance we get. We’ve been slowly unpacking and finding new homes for all our stuff! And oh boy did we realize how much shit (I mean stuff) we have when we moved! 😉 It was never ending! My dogs are adjusting to their new yard and learning what the invisible fence is all about. We took some time over the weekend to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. My health is good. Kyle’s health is good. I have been taking small steps to help my business. We just ordered equipment for our home gym and it should be here in two weeks!

In the wake of chaos, take time to focus on the good. We, as a society, tend to focus on the negative things. It’s amazing what can happen when we focus on the good. No matter where you’re at or what you’re going through, take time to notice the great things in life. They can be simple and that’s ok. Even in the darkest days, there is still so much to be thankful for, always. Remember that and when you forget, take the time to focus on remembering.
